Have 2 offers from FAANG and 1 from startup. Maybe I'll pass startup but not yet decided between FAANG, and they both know there is a competing offer from each other.

Would it be too risky to ask "I want XXX more, and I'll take whoever accept it first"? Maybe it will end up bad and I'll end up begging one of them with their original offer but just want to try if it's not too offensive.

Too nervous to share details which can reveal my position. Will update after I accept offer.

Money is not everything, so I would risk the second favorite one, and aggressively negotiate with them. Once they seem to converge to a package that you are comfortable, talk kindly with the first option, then decide

Forcing them to move quickly is not a good move. You have more to lose than they do.

Give one company a number and ask them to beat, turn to the other one and ask the same.

      OP
No... Microsoft immediately give up once heard I got offers from those FAANG... and I don't want to delay it any further. I got 95% of AMZN stocks in this year already. (thanks to 4-year cliff)

    Umm, why not?
I’ll be joining one of FANG soon and had 4 competing offers. They knew about it (mentioned right before the final round in order to rush on getting the result)

There was going back and forth at least two (max three) times on every offer.

    How I did was
First round - state my value and ask more.

Second round - brought my other offer TC and company name and asked more (some others don’t recommend revealing the company name, but I did 😅)

Third round - kindly forced them my most offer deadlines are coming soon, and hoping to see if they can match TC xxx ( or match to xxx on one of the components ). I told them if so, I’m ready to accept. Blah blah

Everything was very very smooth without burning the bridge.
These took only 2 biz days. As long as they want you, I believe there should be somewhere in the middle.

  • This is a very bad way to negotiate. If you make it all about money, they may pull the offer altogether. You have to at least make it seem like the team and the work matters and negotiate carefully to get what you want without pushing them away. And team and work should matter, so decide first which job you really want and then use the other offer to your advantage to negotiate a better deal.
