I have got to offer stage at GCP for a sales role. I don't need any negative comments. It is a great choice I have. I have 8 years tech sales + 5 years sales experience. The base salary seems so low as its 40/60. Lower than my past employer and way lower than I expected. Has anyone had success getting a decent sales base from GCP? Or do they lump you hard on RSUs? What is the max sign on I can get? move!? #sales #enterprise #ae

    What roles in cisco considered as a sales roles? There are so many titles like system architect, network consulting engineer, technology solutions architect, system engineer etc. Which one of these are commission based and good upward momentum? How is TC in cisco?

      They are not considered sales roles per se at Cisco. The level of personal risk and responsibility is considerably lower than pure sales people. At Cisco they are not involved directly in close plans unless orchestrated by the sales lead on the account in question. They are extremely valuable, essential skilled co workers.. that's not the question but being a sales engineer at Cisco isn't considered a sales position. I.e. it does not qualify you to apply for other quota carrying roles at other vendors and is not cold face 'sales' experience. It is not actually direct quota carrying. At Google there are some nuances and the sales engineers are more motivated due to culture but ultimately sales engineers are not quite as responsible for the sale. They do not own the direct quota... it is shared. Hence the small bonus percentage. Sales bonus is 150% of basic salary. Pure sales people expect to earn 300% or more as this is possible elsewhere. So yes you can call sales engineers sales people if you like but it's the difference between contribution and ownership. Make or break.

      ^this is highly dependent on vertical, account stratum, region, etc.

      Some SEs at Google are podded (tied to an account’s number, not pooled across the region) and I can tell you they are very incentivized to close

    OP, FWIW commission part in GCP is consumption based and relatively low risk compared other license based sales, your quota most likely will be from existing run rate and growth, even if you don't drive much growth you easily 50-70% so there is significant upside!
