Will they go backrupt? Seems like there are only two companies that make commercial planes Boeing and Airbus, why is that?

๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ™„ No the largest aerospace company and one of the largest defense contractors in the world isnโ€™t going to go bankrupt. On a serious note, while the 737 max makes up a good amount of their commercial sideโ€™s revenue, their defense, space, and global services side have all done extremely well this year to help make up some of the damage from the 737 max. And even if they were to somehow go bankrupt, the US government bailed out the automakers, you think theyโ€™d even hesitate to bail out one of their prime DoD suppliers and company that produces products that are the countryโ€™s largest and costliest export?

Exactly, Boeing has bi-partisan support from both sides of the political spectrum. If you donโ€™t believe me go look at defense spending over the last 2 or 3 decades, there havenโ€™t been much drastic changes between a democrat or republican presidency.

I absolutely believe you and definitely know what ignoring the company would mean during a collapse. Iโ€™m just asserting that hyper polarization doesnโ€™t make it easier to spend billions of dollars to help a company or even help corral votes. Which opposition member of the senate wants to hand over a huge victory to the other guy? Especially in these divisive times. My assertion is that the political division amongst us could actually make bad scenarios like this realistic.

    No

Planes are difficult to design, low volume, benefit from economies of scale, and come with high liability. There was consolidation in the us aerospace industry in the 70s and 80s and Boeing bought a ton of smaller companies that uses to make planes too.
