I feel very sad for the high performers in startups joining Google. I've seen many of the Nooglers in the past year coming from startups and getting into borderline depression because of low impact.
At Google, things move SLOWLY and it is hard to connect with team outside work. Pls get that into your minds while you prepare for Google interviews.
If you are coming for the brand, decent pay, and a nice work life balance, you will be happy.
If you want to connect with your work, get emotionally attached to your work, want a fair performance review process and be friends with your teammates outside work, pls don't join.
It will lead to unnecessary depression as you will not be ready to leave your "dream job" and at the same time, won't be motivated enough to do anything related to "impactful" work.
Sincerely,
Proud coaster.

Gcp by nature has lot of ops issues with customer tickets piling in. Its just Amazon without the PiP there.
Downleveling breaks so many people.
