what % are targeted for PIP yearly at FB and Amazon?

pip rate = ? and do strong performers have issues where they get promoted up the ranks then eventually wind up in a PIP bucket?

Yet the Donald still matches perfectly with that mistake

SDM here. I don’t have to PIP anyone that I don’t believes should be on it. I’m not forced by an arbitrary percentage.

Unfortunately Amazon have very small percentage of good SDMs like you! Are you incentivised to put people on PIP?

Akamai Technologies hpBF22 OP Oct 27, 2019

On average how many do you pip weekly, monthly and yearly Until them dumb motherfuckers see clearly That Your down with the capital PIP

You either die a strong performer or live long enough to see yourself PIPed

Facebook maple dip Oct 27, 2019

I don't think there is quota for PIP. Managers are encouraged to either PIP or improve performance, so it depends on what he thinks is the best/easiest path.

Akamai Technologies hpBF22 OP Oct 27, 2019

What is the guidance for the level of performance for which anything below that point needs to be actively improved via coaching or pip? How is performance measured?

Amazon sako Oct 27, 2019

Facebook gives you a deadline to get promoted or you get fired, until you reach a certain level. Amazon has a quota that achieves something similar in the if you don't get promoted you become a target ("why isn't he up for promotion after x years" leads to "because he has y area of improvement" which leads to a dev plan). At both companies once you get to a certain level this no longer applies. I think that's l8 at Amazon and a slightly less senior level at Facebook but I forget at what level there.

Facebook and Amazon have different processes. At Amazon it's a percentage, at Facebook it's an "up or out" policy, you need to get promoted by a deadline or you're out. It boils down to something pretty similar but the mechanism is different.

15% MM, 2 MM in a roll = pip. Do the math.

Snapchat bFCN68 Oct 27, 2019

Can you please expand on what MM stands for?

Akamai Technologies hpBF22 OP Oct 27, 2019

How shitty is the MM performance? Are these people straight up garbage tier or would they actually be meeting or exceeding expectations at other companies with better WLB such as Microsoft or sales force?

Amazon Waqc64 Oct 27, 2019

AWS is 8% mandatory at L7 and below

But 8% per level or 8% across all those levels combined?
