every day in my feed i see a bootcamper posting a new react app they made (amazon clone, youtube clone, todo list, these are hot) or i see someone talking about a udemy course they took or posting the certification what are your thoughts on these project updates that people post in feed? TC 277
I came across someone who bragged about finishing one chapter from a fucking Oreilly publishing book. 🥲 Talk about not having any prestige.
If they’re new to the industry, they’re probably trying to market themselves. Otherwise it’s just cringe. I know someone at a FAANG who still regularly posts about LC and I had to unfollow them 🙄
It's okay for n00bs Let them grow
I love seeing recent grads or bootcamp grads showcasing their creations! You’d be surprised how the LI algorithm can connect the right people to them just by surfacing on their feeds And even for mid levels — if they post a project, that’s actually impressive because how many people have time or energy to code someone cool outside of work? I know I don’t
It’s way better then posts about personal growth and advices on how to get better self-esteem
Good for them. Hustling to land their first job. It’s hard to get that first interview when you have no experience.

If the only experience they have is persons projects then it makes perfect sense. What else are they supposed to do? Of course once they get a year of professional experience then they can delete that junk. But I was in that position once myself and there’s only so much you can do without real world experience.
