Like someone from G or Amazon would leave as a SWE and join one of these stupid roles? Then the recruiters say “it’s same as software engineering”. Well then why isn’t it called the same and on the same ladder? There’s an email every 15 days from fb recruiters. Is FB hiring more for these roles than SWE? I heard they’re only interviewing L5+ for swe.
Maybe no one from G or Amazon is interested but someone from Indeed is!
Haha. Indeed.
It's called title inflation. It's just like everyone on the non-tech side is a "director", "head", or "manager" of something.
I’m pretty sure solution engineer is a sales role where you do POC’s, demo’s, presale architecture. Someone from FB correct me if that’s not right
This happened to me as well for Enterprise Eng role, I interviewed and got a surprisingly high TC as well. I posted on Blind previously regarding this, as I was confused(money you see ;-)) Then I came to know these roles are no-way similar to SWE at FB. Moreover, they are hiring for E4 SWEs at FB. I guess they are just desperately trying to fill EE/SE/PE roles at FB.
What did your offer look like and with what yoe?
What was your yoe and offer breakdown?
OP : weird username 🤣😂🤣 i read it as चोदू क्या ? 🤣
Production Engineering is on the same ladder as SWE, no difference in comp. it’s sort of like FB’s version of SRE.
Poorly chosen name in that case. Can I transfer to swe role then? From production engineering?
Why is it a poorly-chosen name? By that you could argue SRE (or calling any of us “engineers” for that matter) is poorly-chosen as well. That said, the skill sets are very close but slightly different. There are unique components to each’s interview loop. To transfer, you just need to do the delta between the two. People move back and forth between the two with decent frequency.
