wayfair is thriving and making money in online furniture online ecommerce is amazons space question - why is amazon not coming in full force in furnoture business and eating wayfair ?
Oh, but they are https://www.curbed.com/2017/11/7/16617160/amazon-furniture-brands-rivet-stone-beam
Cause Wayfair is losing a lot of money
Cause healthcare is more profitable
Amazon has at least 3 furniture brands so yes, they are attempting to do this
They will takeover at some point. Doing 2 day delivery on big furniture is bleeding money. Also, I think IKEA is way ahead of Wayfair
I am not from retail , so pardon this trivial question - Is wayfair currently loosing money on every delivery ? What if anything is wayfair doing which is allowing them to offer crazy salaries in Boston area ?
Agreed... they have that reputation in Boston for good TC
Because they need to figure out better economics: https://seekingalpha.com/article/4279016-wayfairs-long-term-business-model-may-broken
Large parcel is very different from small parcel.
Amazon is not good at everything they do. For instance, Fire phone is an experiment, which didn't work. They'll learn and get there or quit a bad idea once they recognize it as such. Listen to C-suite of Wayfair from yesterday's earnings call. The stock was dumped. I think if their market cap comes below $5-6B, Bezos or Waltons may pull the trigger to acquire them. Retail isn't easy.
This is what I was saying. I just wish people would stop and think about where Wayfair goes.
