I am about to complete my masters in USA and I have applied to over 100 job postings on glassdoor, indeed,LinkedIn and dice. I have also tried to get interviews using referrals but nothing seems to click. As a fresher I shouldn't be expected to have 2 years of experience in everything like node, javascript frameworks, python Django, C, Java Spring. Applying to new grad roles gets you the initial coding test but even if all test cases pass, there is no follow up. For one single role in a top tier tech company there are 5-6 rounds...how do I get even 1 job as an international student with a new grad status in this broken market!!! Please share your thoughts
Try messaging some hiring managers. And also passing all the test cases is not enough. They do actually look at your code quality and style. It's pretty important to have past internships or big projects on resume too.
thanks ..how do i contact hiring managers? linkedin(hardly anyone replies to cold messages from job seekers now)
Yes you can use LinkedIn. Or you can try to find or "predict" people's company emails. It doesn't hurt to try. The sky is the limit on how convincing your writing is. They'll probably read it so make it good.
It’s harder to get a new grad pm job.
Go on LinkedIn and msg hiring recruiters.
Don’t you have a career fair?
I'm in buffalo,NY so there aren't many tech firms
New grads at Salesforce seem to often have multiple internships under their belt already and act like they have couple years of experience already compared to new grads I’ve seen at more traditional companies. That’s the talent pool you’re dealing with.
Its not a broken market. Its saturated. New grads are a dime a dozen. Internships are really important to avoid the situation you are in.
Did you not do internship? That's really important to get placed, usually the interning company will offer too. Usually during masters people do at least two internships.
I am completing my masters in 1.5 years and i could not secure an internship this summer
I don't understand, why don't you try for internship then? I would think the internship interview has to be easier compared to job interviews, if you're unable to get that how do you expect to get a job? Sorry for being blunt but gather some experience via internship that will help
It’s hard, because employers would rather hire someone with experience than pay the same for someone to ramp up.
