given that Twitter is allowing WFH for many employees, will you leave the Bay Area for a cheaper locale if your employer gives you that option?

there are states that have zero income tax, dirt cheap housing relative to Palo Alto aka precios alto, decent schools and culture.

thoughts?

TC: not enough for the bay.

Moving to a low cost of living state with no income tax will basically pay for itself and rent for a larger home/apartment. People like to highlight benefits in the bay area that they take advantage of maybe one weekend every several months, or mistakenly think other places don't have the same or better benefits.

I suspect that for existing employees, they will keep salaries the same. Though if they were to hire someone from a cheaper place, they will pay at a discount to Bay Area salaries but an increase to local salaries.

If they threaten to cut salaries then counter with coming to the office once a week or every other week and move back to CA but far away from the urban sprawl to live a nice life. NV might even be an option if once every other week.
