To all potential new hires, you should avoid working at Okta. It’s infested with greedy and psychotic upper management. A lot of senior leadership are former Salesforce who got the taste of money after Salesforce’s IPO and long bull run, and will stop at nothing to further line their pockets by doing it again at Okta at the expense and well-being of the employees. The big difference is that Okta’s service isn’t Salesforce. It’s complicated to sell and hard to implement and use as a customer. Sales and CSM’s are being asked to do the impossible. The sales team has unrealistic targets and recently mgmt has gone hardcore and fires sales people who miss just a single quarter. Meanwhile, the new president missed many quarters and is still around. Hypocrisy is rampant at Okta. Expenses are being cut, hiring freezes are common, and when you need someone you have to grovel to management for it. At the same time, Okta continues to pay expenses like airfare for execs who are allowed to live remotely, making their high SF salary, but enjoying the low cost of living of elsewhere while regular employees have to be in the office daily and live nearby with most of their income eaten up by Bay Area housing expenses. Okta upper management is full of privileged elites who think that Okta is changing the world. It isn’t. It’s just software. Consider yourself warned.
