I interviewed at Airbnb a few years ago, and my impression is that they were cultivating a really positive, yet creepy culture. Their culture fit interview wasn't too intense, but it did seem different from your average tech company.
Looking at their PR, they really focus on community and warm fuzzy feelings. My weird impression is that they were trying to be the "good sharing economy startup" in contrast to Uber's cutthroat, unethical, win-at-all-costs public image. But their focus on culture seemed a little cult-like.
DAE get that impression? Anyone work at both companies?
