I'm a college student and IT Intern for a public health organization. I've sent hundreds of applications to tech companies and they never respond. It seems like the best way to get a job is to know someone. Does anyone have good networking strategies besides LinkedIn?

First, target five or six companies you'd like to work at. Do research on them. Then, find some mutual connections. Let them kniw you're looking for work with said company. Check their website & see what positions they need. Call the HR director & have a nice conversation. Ask questions about them: ehats the culture like, what makes someone successful there, why the hr person likes it. SHOW them you're interested in the company. ASK if you can send your resume straight to them in addition to whatever on-line b.s. platform they have you submit. THEN, follow up with a hand written thank you note. Guarantee you'll have an interview in a couple of weeks.
Thanks!!! Will do.
Do not follow this advice unless you want to stay unemployed. Calling HR will immediately blacklist you and you will never know. Only way to get job is to network with others in the sub-discipline of your choice. Show passion and being a self-starter. Someone will hire you.
