Trying to figure out why my resume is passed up so much. I've gotten interviews at #google and #amazon I'm also applying at #apple and #microsoft for #productmanager #productmanagement roles. I know I've done some super impressive work for how early I am in my career but for some reason I that success is not being communicated in the resume clearly or the things I've done is really just not that impressive. Feedback, tips, constructive adjustments welcomed!

Written super casually, focused too much on the situation of what you did, but not much detail about the impact of what you did

I would recommend getting some mentors who can refer or vouch for your skills and abilities and get you viewport on a zoom call (post Covid foot in the door). I would not change my authentic voice to please others. I would instead focus on articulating my experience and impact in my Resume.

I didn’t go to college and got into two non FAANG but still reputable companies and had conversations with FAANG (didn’t wanna go through with it cuz I’m still not sure which way I wanna go career wise)

A lot of companies have said they’re not listing degrees anymore as a requirement. Unless it has to do with the application tracking, I’m not really sure that’s the main reason you’d be passed on. (It could be a factor but not enough to pass)

I would rewrite the bullets and quantify the business(rev growth, cutting costs) and tech improvements(reduced tech debt, shortened release cycles). Clear outcomes matter, output not so much.

Op, too many numbers in your resume. Ask yourself, do these matter? Why? What does it convey about your capability? Make the resume about your skills, contribution and impact.

I started to add the numbers only after in interviews I kept being asked how many engineers did you work with, what was the size if the project for the IT team? After I added these numbers believe it or not I started getting more interviews out of my applications. Sadly I can't legally add anything about metrics to my resume per the NDA.

There’s zero sense of actual impact from the numbers you convey. It reads as a lot of fluff. What actual metrics impact did you have? Did you grow revenue, users, usage, frequency, product adoption, or reduce churn, costs, etc?

I could but it might come off as indirect fluff so ill have to think how to touch on meaningful growth. Let me think on it

No, it reads as fluff right now. Showing relative impact would be an immense improvement vs what you’re currently showing
