Hello blind! I'm an undergrad at UW-Madison graduating in December 2022. I really want to get into product management straight out of college, and have been trying my best to make it happen. I almost made into the Google APM internship program for this summer (the EMEA one in London, England though), but then luck happened. Thankfully I got another internship here at SiriusXM as a Digital Analyst Intern. I have tried to be extremely focused to do what it takes to get into a product internship, but I think I miss one key element - a launched product / startup. Now a few questions I really need guidance on: 1. Am I correct in assuming that a launched startup / product with a few users is a pre-requisite for a pm internship? 2. If no, then is my background (scroll below) good enough? 3. If yes, any guidance on how to launch a product while working full time in less than a month? I have positioned myself to have access to 3 low-skilled engineers and one friend who's just interested in the idea and willing to help. Background: 1. Majoring in Computer Science and also in Economics 2. Certificates (Minors) in Business and one in Leadership 3. One ~grueling~ software engineering internship for 7 months at a local startup 4. Current internship (where I do A/B testing) 5. A part-time job with the university where I assisted/shadowed a project manager and dabbled in accessible web development 6. A startup idea with a half built product (essentially the entire frontend, and some backend) 7. Incoming president of a PM club on campus, in charge of organizing an all campus leadership conference next semester ALSO, naturally I will be applying for internships again in the next few months and am looking for referrals. I have a few companies identified that I will tag, and would appreciate it if someone from those company(s) could refer me. I'd be happy to talk more over DM about the same. Also, I'm sure I missed a lot of companies that I could apply for, please let me know the names I'll add it to my list. I would GREATLY appreciate any and all help! #referral #hiring #jobhunt #google - apm + tpm intern #microsoft - pm intern #intuit - pm intern #salesforce - apm intern #linkedin - apm + tpm intern #apple - epm intern #facebook - tpm intern #atlassian - apm intern #twitter - apm intern #hulu - tpm + pm intern #dell - tpm intern #disney - pm intern #coursera - tpm + pm intern #expedia - pm intern #faang #apm #tpm #pm #product #productmanager #collegestudent #undergrad #undergrad-pm
