I've been with two different orgs here and I've had terrible experiences both times. Recently, I've been actively looking for other jobs but honestly the FAANG companies turn me off so fast bc of my time at amazon (terrible management, terrible WLB, shitty politics, sexist shit, v ok pay) that I can't fathom working at any company like Amazon. Only thing is, I see so many people on blind talking about / revering FAANG that I'm start to think that maybe it's just me? Am I missing something?

Join a good faang, namely G first. G is nice. Also you can try some other good WLB+talent companies, e.g., Pinterest, Snowflake etc.

Amazon / AWS is especially infamous amongst tech employers (not just FAANG but all tech employers) for having the most abusive and terrible management culture & resulting awful work environment.

Just bounce; FAANG or some other tech employer or being a human knife throwing target…. all of them will be a more pleasant working environment.

The best time to leave Amazon / AWS was yesterday and the next best time is today… go for it - it’s nearly impossible to find a worse employer as almost any tech company in any major city will be more employee centric!

In reading other posts and comments here, it sounds like there’s a perception that other FAANG companies are better.

I wonder if they’re also more competitive— I haven’t been able to even get an interview at one of the other FAANG companies despite referrals and several resume reviews, and it’s been about 4 months. I’m also going for competitive PM roles though
