I couldn't find much information about Toptal freelance developer rates online. What is your hourly rate on Toptal? What's your YOE, skillset and location? Also do you know how much does Toptal cut from client's pay?

For me, my rate is 50 USD. I'm a Java backend developer with 8 YOE. I'm based in Eastern Europe.

      Their share is on top of your salary. They don't take 50% from your salary.

      It’s the same thing. They charge a client $150/hr and pay you $75. Which is actually worse because it make so many of their prospects churn from the platform.

    As a SWE Toptal is a TERRIBLE idea. Why give up 1/2 of your salary when people are falling all over you to hire you?

      Not everyone lives in rich countries and here, people falling all over us pay less than Toptal.

    I think it's a reasonable rate for EE given your YOE. Probably you could go a little bit up. Based on my estimates they could sell you anywhere from 85 to 130 per hour.
