Has anyone here gotten their employment based green card? Once you've done biometrics and gotten your EAD/AP and finally your i485 approved, what are the actual steps assuming an interview is waived? Do you still have to go in somewhere to get your passport stamped? Or do you just get the green card in the mail? (Everything is done via mail?)

If the I-485 is approved and interview waived, you'll just get it in the mail. They will update status when the card is printed and then again when shipped, and will provide you with a USPS tracking number. If the interview is not waived, same process, but with the interview in between :)

  • No other steps. You should though get your SSN card updated to remove DHS authorization needed. And update your I-9 with employer.

  • I485 approval means you are a legal permanent resident. If you are already in the US, you will receive the physical card in 10-20 days. If you are outside US and went through consular processing, they’ll stamp your passport. You’ll be mailed a Green Card after you physically enter US. This may take about a month.

@Facebook Is the interview mandatory for all EB2 green cards nowadays? What makes you eligible for an interview waiver?

    • I’m not sure about the process now for waiver eligibility. In 2018-2019, DHS made interviews mandatory for EB2. Before that there used to be no interviews. It was one of those Trumpy things.
