In a 1:1 with my director, I asked him on his thoughts regarding remote work to gauge how likely I would be able to get a remote work approval in the future. He told me he personally hates it and that if it was his choice, he would get everyone back into the office as it was in pre-Covid times. He also stated that ppl that choose remote are jeopardizing their own career since he (and other managers) will inevitably view those workers more negatively than their counterparts. His reasoning was that there will be much less natural rapport with these workers which will affect the promo process whether or not it should.
I found this kind of funny in a way since our director is going to be working remotely. He is planning a months long trip where he works in a different office at times and then from a hotel at times.
