What is the smartest way to quit?

I wanted to keep my job and leetcode but the expectations are just too much. I work as a software engineer in jpm investment bank division. Pay is crap and treatment is crap.

I’ve been leetcoding and just need about 2 months to wrap things up.

Manger keeps micromanaging me. I am thinking to take all my sick days and vacation then quit. It doesn’t matter how hard I work they always want more and say you’re under performing.

"Best time to look for a job is when you have a job", so be patient. Squeeze more time out of your daily schedule to practice well and nail the interview.
I would say get couple of competitive offers.
    Best of luck!

  • Try to see where you can find some extra time - Weekends? Evenings? Get up a bit early?

If you quit now and take 2 months for preparation and then start interviewing there will be a 3-6 months gap in best case scenario between your jobs. Think about finances and even mental load of not having a job. You don’t want to take the first one you get offer from just because they are the only one who gave you offer so far.

Also recruiters find candidates who are currently working more lucrative. No one knows if you left the job or were fired.

I wouldn't recommend it. It's one thing if you're some wiz kid that has a 100% pass rate on FANG interviews, but otherwise it might take longer than you expect to find a good job, and you don't want to find yourself forced to take another shitty job just to pay the bills.

I actually quit my job at Expedia. Will look for jobs later when I feel like it.

Don’t waste your vacation since you get paid out on it. Just slap your 2 weeks notice and sit back. Or just quit and collect the vacation money and final pay so you can prepare for the next role.
