So today I met a Lyft driver who wants to get in the IT industry. He's learning databases(MongoDB) and has a bit of experience with Python code. He doesn't have a lot of time(married with 2 toddlers) or lot of money(to attend bootcamp).

He asked me for my opinion on how to get an Entry Level job(as a DB Adminstrator?). And I told him that he might want to learn from Freecodecamp to be able to build some rudimentary web applications.

Do you guys have suggestions that he can implement to get an Entry level job? Thanks

DB admin jobs are dying. Would be a better idea to start learning python and algorithms in the aims of acing a general coding interview.

I'd say acing the coding interviews requires a good base of math brain and logical thinking. If he has that, then money and time won't be an issue. I was a poor typist, had 2 toddlers with a working wife (living paycheck to paycheck), but I was good at math, and now am a swe with great TC.

  • Start by getting headhunter companies to go for those very entry level software dev jobs paying $70k. Best way to start
