It seems like mechanical engineers salary and role availability hasn't kept up with the rest of the tech industry. Im located in Texas and have noticed this becoming more apparent for the past 10 years. Are you seeing the same thing? Any tips for finding/keeping higher salary mechanical roles?

Also, TC
But it’s real products and real world safety applications. Can’t complain.
Similar to SWE, the high paying ME jobs are at the largest tech companies. The dropoff in salary is more dramatic after those companies vs SWE bc higher operating costs
Accordingly, the highest mechanical engineering salaries are at the highest market cap hardware-reliant companies (or those who aspire to have a dominant hardware presence), such as Apple, Facebook, Google
Your salary depends first and foremost on your employers business case.
Swe think they are making more money because they are in high demand due to low supply. That’s not always true. They get paid a lot because their employers don’t have many expenses as core employers. So they can afford higher salaries.
