Does Cummins have company-wide policy regarding case initiation for a green card? 3 months, 6 months or day 1 with manager approval? And how fast can they “actually” start the case? I know some companies have a day 1 policy but have super long internal queue. I'm joining in 3 months (on OPT). YOE: new grad TC: peanut #tech #techcareer #cummins #h1b #greencard #opt
Cummins has a terrible green card policy for new grad and its non negotiable
Initially you will be on cloud nine and don't feel bad. After the high comes down, you will realize it's just a ploy to slave for 6 years more
The policy is designed to make sure an employee never leaves the company, looks reasonable in 90s, early 2000s but modern day what a joke. A person joins on OPT in July 2017, doesn't get picked for 2 years gets picked for H1 in 2020 lottery they will start GC process for employee in October 2023 which won't be premium and will take 2 years at least for I140 approval so that's October 2025. Now if you leave before your GC comes (2 years to 78 years, depending on nationality) then you repay the green card fees which can be between 6 - 9k. So imagine joining in July 2017 as a college grad and working until July 2017 still deciding to stay for few years to not pay green card application fees. Biggest trap ever.. Join learn skills in 2 years -> LEAVE I personally know someone who left 6 years after I140 approval and had to pay back 6k.
My friend left the company 2 days after I140. He told me that the PERM application fee becomes prorated when someone leaves. Prorated to how many years, I don't know.
Agree with all the comments above... GC initiation after 3 years of H1B
Cummins immigration policy is Trash. The most ridiculous is using 1 year for prevailing wage and recruitment. Then you have to pray to whatever God you serve that they don’t lay off because if they do, they can’t file GC on your behalf.
Policy is after 4.5 yrs on H1B they will start ur greencard...no negotiation here
@Cummins folks, are you guys still at Cummins? If so why haven’t you jumped ship?
3 years after being in h1b for new grad, other people can negotiate on joining
Damn that's suck
On the flip side, Cummins has one of the most flexible immigration policies Ive known. They dont apply your green card as quickly as tech companies, but are very immigrant friendly.
