How do you guys find your goals in life? I’ve been experimenting with different areas and I’ve realized everything I chase I don’t really want.
I thought I should chase TC but after tasting a tiny bit of the good life I realized even if I had unlimited TC I’d probably just do a bunch of drugs and play video games all day after a few years of travelling and buying yatchs.
I thought I should be family focused but after centering my life around my family I realized I’d be a lot happier if I only saw them 2-3 high quality days a week.
I thought I should become an expert and learn something as deep as possible but after starting grad school I realized there’s about 3 people in the world who care about what you’re researching, including you and your advisor, and most of what makes an impact in the world is far removed from what goes on in academia.
Now I’m thinking about title chasing and becoming as powerful as possible so I can arbitrarily reward and punish people. Do you think I should apply to Amazon?

You can try it and let me know. You need to see the happiness of the people you helped, then you will get the feeling of purpose.
To be more satisfied - know that things will lose their sheen as time passes. Do things non graspingly.
