Some explanation is in order.
I’m US-based and educated, but I’ve been working for the past 6 years as a machine learning engineer at a tiny company with 5 full-time employees that currently only does business in Eastern Europe (within EU). We aren’t on LinkedIn, and if you go to our website you won’t find anything about the people involved in the company. Pretty much the only people that know we exist are our customers and our competitors.
I need a job with a normal company. Ie one that hires me as a W-2 employee and provides benefits like health insurance. When I see people talk about vetting and background checks I wonder if this is going to be a big problem. Apart from a website with a phone number, there’s little evidence accessible to most people that the company I work for even exists.
Is this a big problem? Am I worrying about nothing?

I’m also concerned about whatever initial vetting they might be doing before even scheduling interviews. I have no idea what goes on behind the curtain.
