Mercedes/Daimler Self driving offer

I have an offer from Mercedes with Autonomous Driving group, the numbers are still in the working.

Work :
I am going to be working on Perception algorithms. That is something that i have not worked on and always wanted to get in.
The team seemed pretty cool when i talked to them.

Comp: have no idea, but they dont offer stock is what i know.

What is the general perception of mercedes in the autonomous space?
Would it be wise to go out from a software company and work with a car company ?
