Hey Blind my wife is trying to transition into the tech industry , I’m having a hard time identifying which jobs to target for her to apply and which companies. Any feedback is much appreciated .

YES us SWEs need to have our hand held and have the interview process explained to us at least 4 times before we remember

    Amazon non-tech Program Manager
    Then Product Manager
    Then Product Manager Tech (PM-T)

Tons of people do this. It takes 3+ years generally.

Have her look at ID (Instructional Design) positions. A lot of teachers are pivoting to this role. If she can put together curriculum she would be great in L&D roles (Learning & Development). Have her get this book Rapid Instructional Design by George M. Piskurich. That will give her an overview of how to put together training and curriculum for an organization vs a school. She can then start to learn how to use tools like Adobe Captivate and Articulate Storyline to create e-learning. The tools aren’t very difficult and with a little bit of practice she’ll get the hang of it. Have her create a few courses for fun to build a portfolio for when she starts to interview. Or if she wants to get contract jobs. As an ID she can work on many different type of projects (sales, marketing, HR, engineering). I think this would be great way for her to pivot into tech.
