Looking to leave current job and get a couple of referrals (based in NYC)
Hey blinders!
I've started to look for a new job and have had phone interviews. My background has mostly been in startups as a Product Designer, so I've applied to startup companies. But I'm wondering how I stack up to bigger companies, their challenges, and really wanting to learn more from leading designers. I haven't had that mentorship and don't want to get stuck in the startup mentality of moving fast, wearing many hats, while still early in my career.
Basically, I started working at startups since in high school. The biggest creative/design team I've been a part of is 6 designers, including myself, at a small company that I shortly interned at. And the other times, over the last few years, it's me and one or two other "jack-of-all-trades" types. I'd be keen to joining a company with an established (or somewhat) design culture and could possibly offer mentorship.
Yes I can do: UI, UX, and visual design; and am proficient in front-end development (HTML/CSS and some JavaScript and React) - I can do some cool shit! I've worked on a broad number of design projects (from responsive web, product features, and Android app design).
Open to career advice here or off-blind, and any referrals to Google, Facebook or Netflix also welcome 🙏 Thanks y'all
