Posting for friend since they dont want to be id by current company tag.

Robinhood -
135k + 175k RSU + 30k sign on
full remote

Microsoft -
121k + 130k RSU + 25k sign on
bing ads

likes the work more at Robinhood where already knows will be doing backend infra but MS won't assign team until later so risk it won't be back end) but also kinda worried about this company's future. Thanks for your wisdom, Blind, comments also appreciated :)

Seems like Microsoft and Robinhood are in opposite ends of the spectrum for WLB and job security, and Microsoft people can still land interviews just about anywhere, go for Microsoft

  • Robinhood, by a mile.

    Much better growth opportunities
You know the team you’re getting and like it.
    Fully remote option.
    More $$$.

    Seems like a no brainer

  • Microsoft is great for WLB but they are not going to pay top dollar for talent. And when it comes to merit increases, good luck getting anything decent (expect a 1% to 2.5% increase). They are very stingy with increases and getting promoted is tough. You need a "sponsor" at a high level to move up the ladder, otherwise you will be in your role and in your level for 3-5 years with annual increases of 1% to maybe 3% if you are lucky.

  • I work at Robinhood and there’s a lot to do here. Good for growth and someone who wants to make impact. WLB depends on the team. For me, WLB has been great. Busy, but no need to overwork oneself.
