From those that have been through amazon loop, would you say strong LP match can make up for so-so coding skills during interviews?

Yeah we’re laying off 75% of our engineers, turns out it’s pretty fucking easy to run a CRUD website.

    • That's why the Airbnb leadership still thinks they have a shot at IPO because they are still profiting off the cancellations (while bankrupting millions of hosts)

    • For me it's a market. I think we will see a lot of hosts shut down their listings or have to sell their homes. Lot of people I know rent and flip on airbnb and those will get fucked.

As less hosts there are, = less bookings when we recover from this = less revenue.

What pisses me off is airbnb fucks over their hosts, but still their customer service and site is dog shit. All the bullshit issues which I had to call in and get them to fix in the old days I can't anymore because their call centers are a 2 hour hold time. Hosts literally are left to fend for themselves.

Rumors are flying around. I won’t be surprised if a random guy jumps out and say eBay is laying off 50% next Monday.

Oh, I forgot to mention that “from reliable source”

No. There are no layoffs or actual rumors of layoffs. No leaks, no hints, nothing.

What’s happening is that people are seeing a downturn in business, and speculating that layoffs might result. That’s it.

This is exacerbated by the fact that almost all Airbnb engineers are too young to have gone through the financial crisis. Blind is becoming an echo chamber of worried junior engineers that don’t understand how business or layoffs work.
