Potentially the Karen’s of the world who still use FB/IG will be loud but the reason why TikTok is doing so well is because users want a new platform to grow and share. IG is too saturated and reels is too late in the game

FB is a great company, but Google didn’t beat FB with G+. FB didn’t beat Snapchat with whatever copy they launched.

    • Yeah but you also have to consider that Snap f’d up by changing their UI, causing a lot of users to switch over to IG. Snap’s change significantly helped IG stories growth. IMO, Snap shot themselves in the foot as opposed to IG murdering them.

I think pre-ban, Reels would do well but not beat out TikTok. That narrative may be different now.

G+ was a foray into social media, an area Google knew nothing about.

Fb is pretty much only a social media company and reels isnt very far from their core business.

Also, FB has basically won against snap. Snap is hanging on but not exactly growing. Dont know what will happen with reels, but the G+ anecdote doesnt apply here

Yes definitely. Content creators know tiktok could be banned so they'll start migrating to Instagram

I am impressed with the execution.

Given the lack of morale and perf cancellation culture, it would be very hard to make this at Google. The incentives are not there.
