FB is my 1st job, and I didn’t know about that shitty 1 year no-transfer team policy until been here for a while.

Is this rule common in every company? Or just some FB specific shit? I’ve heard my Microsoft friend said she switched team 2 months in, I feel like I’m handcuffed right now.

  • What an entitled brat. It's just a year. It's not like you have enough experience to know if you'd actually enjoy a new team better. Do you realize how batshit crazy you sound saying you feel handcuffed with how much money you're paid?

    • Well he is trying to transfer in the same company. What if he hates the team after a 8-9 months, doesn't have an impact and switches. He has to start over again and company has to absorb more cost.

    • It would be less costly to the company on average, which is why these policies exist. Hating a team doesn't prevent you from having an impact.

  • You’ve got to be joking. FB has one of the most lenient transfer policies around. In other companies you don’t get 6 weeks to try out different teams and PICK whichever one you want to join. In most companies you have to *interview* to join another team.

Wow, you really have no idea how good you have it. FB seems to have made many bad choices when “rapidly expanding” over the last couple years.

Amazon used to have a 1yr policy and no poaching rule which led people to leave instead of move. It’s now free game to move as much as you like, just need to convince manager to take you.

There’s no rule at Amazon. I’ve switched twice, but even on bad teams I felt like on year was easily doable.

Not sure why there’s so many negative posts about FB on Blind. If it’s really that bad there, I would say use the Facebook reputation on your resume and go somewhere like Google.

Right now most people agree FB has the highest tech bar, but the reputation of the product is definitely not trending upwards... so use it as leverage while it’s hot.

Box is a year before you can move but it’s also a very bro system. Only
Way to move is if you are bros with your future manager, playing overwatch with them, drinking with them will guarantee. Any other way to attempt to move won’t be successful
