Is DoorDash as bad as blind makes it seem?

Anyone care to share a positive experience about culture and employee experience? Blind skews negative, hoping for a new perspective.

    Def positive experience.
Smart folks , solid tech stack, lots of chance for impact and lots of greenfield projects.

Yeah it’s still growing, processes are evolving but overall good vibes at day to day work that makes me think most complaints are gruntled e3/4 without much perspective in the industry or who cannot manage their work time efficiently.

I work 8-9 hours a day since joining and rarely open my laptop after hours.

Wedash - 10 times a year, 6 of which can be replaced by other activities - so not a factor

Low stock - good for joiners, last year affected employees are getting a solid top up for this year

  • Hoping for a new perspective by asking in the same place that you’re complaining about? Don’t you think it’ll still skew negative?

No not at all. Most people have fine WLB (personally I work ~35 hrs a week), and enjoy the work. Oncalls are still not great (we’re focusing a lot on fixing tech debt and reliability rn, including a new SRE team, so that will get better) some teams are slightly understaffed, so that’s another place where some of the WLB issues come from. We’re working on really expanding the engineering org rn, so the oncall/wlb will probably get better soon ( it’s already gotten much better in the year I’ve been here) Biggest complaint I’ve heard from actual people (in real life) is that the stock price just got wrecked in the past 2 months, and lack of other benefits. My manager is very supportive, understanding, gives constructive feedback and doesn’t hesitate to call out my wins.

Overall it’s a pretty fun place to work, with a lot of new, high impact things to do as we grow and mature into a high level engineering org

Counter perspective - this is def not the majority experience unless this is HR or management.

No one I work with on my team or stakeholders, or collab with cross functionally is working 35 hours/wk.

The work is challenging as the pace is breakneck, but it does really push you to learn and grow. If you're in that stage of your career, it'll suck but you'll come out of it prepared for a lot of other things (like being a career politician), but Doordash is not for everyone

Yeah they make you deliver food once a month and pay 200-400k unbelievable place to work. Can't believe any one would work there.
