I don't like to pre-tip, I leave a tip if they delivered on time and my order wasn't crushed or cold.

I heard that uber eats drivers can see the expected pay that includes your pre-tip. And if enough of them reject it because it's too low, uber dynamically increases the offer.

If this is true, then couldn't uber drivers and customers collaborate to get more money from uber to the drivers?

Uber wants you to tip up front rather than cash so they can eat into the driver's earnings.

Pls tips early. Driver may not take orders with no tip upfront. (Similar to other delivery services)

Nah. Tips are earned. Not a default. If uber wants to incentivize drivers they should offer them more money to begin with.

Tips are supposed to be a bonus. Not regular income. The fuckery that companies have done to tipping culture is absurd. I will NEVER pre-tip

Delivery Fees + Service Fees + CA fees for driver plus along up to tip ...wtf..never tip unless an exception...you’ve already overpaid for the food

Don't order any of these services unless you don't mind paying>2x for cold/soggy food while at the same time not fully supporting local restaurants.

I'd rather take 15m to pick up food directly that I called ahead to order.

That being said, if you do use the service you should tip because without these tips drivers are earning a slave wage (after vehicle running/maintenance/depreciation costs).

I rarely ever order, otherwise just pick up myself. Still don’t tip, underpaid is the problem between company and driver

  • This is why I only use Uber eats to get my Amex plat bonus and I only pick up. Uber eats is a scam just like most delivery services. They’ll all die when covid does.

Did you notice that when UberEats had the deal with Amex they at the same time remove 75%+ of the restaurants that qualified for the EatsPass discount?

      Such a scam

    • I haven’t noticed. I use it once a month and have 2-3 restaurants that I order from at home and 1 at my in laws. Otherwise Uber app hasn’t been opened since the pandemic started.

They do see. Lol, and sometimes when it is busy and your order has 0 tip and Uber them offers $2.50 they'll just never pick up your food.

Not 100% sure but I think Uber might eventually up pay a little to the driver, but maybe not. Have definitely heard stories of orders with no tip not being accepted by any driver so you just don't get the food ever and Uber refunds you.
