I was working for Bassett Medical Center as a desktop support specialist, transitioned over into Optum and still currently employed by Optum while providing service to Bassett.

The entire IT department was transitioned over to Optum from Bassett. This was done with only 10 or so people knowing about this, and it happens over the course of two months from the day it was announced.

During this time we were asked to continue business as usual. We were then reviewed on how Optum wanted us to preform without receiving our responsibilities or changes to them from Optum. When we ask for updates, they give us none, when we ask questions they give us open ended and ambiguous answers that don’t actually answer the questions. We don’t know where we are going, and everything around me seems like a red flag. Should I be worried?

Yep, try finding a part of Optum that you’d enjoy being a part of. Of course this is difficult with the sheer scale of Optum, but interviewing with hiring managers that will be your boss might give some sense of culture in the different orgs. Good luck, OP!

I worked for Optum for a few years. They're very good at eating other orgs and digesting the parts that need it. I'd be updating my resume if it were me.
