My brother has a senior manager offer from Ericsson and Cisco in India.

He is wondering if it would be easy to transfer to US on l1A through these employers.

Which one would be simpler ?

  • So the thing is most US companies have branches in India and hire people there to reduce cost and also get 24 hours support. From the experiences of people I know, moving someone from these companies to us is next to impossible nowadays unless you can figure out the visa issue by yourself. If moving to us is your friends final goal, he might have better luck with IT consulting companies like TCS etc. don’t pin your hopes that these companies will file for Visa.

    • Meaning for some reason the employer doesn’t need to file a visa. Get H4 ead via spouse, or get a green card.

They usually don’t file visa for a managers unless he is technically very strong and contribute to code.

Ericsson is HQ in Sweden but with presence in US.
    Cisco US HQ.
It's about finding out which companies support intra company global hiring. I know Ericsson does between Europe and USA. From India would need some specific skill set to justify.

I don't work in that sub industry any longer and it's been a long time. Best to ask Ericsson and Cisco employees on latest.

In old days it was if someone had a special skill set like network optimization engineering management and there were a few scattered groups around the world then if a position opened up in the US then they would take intra company transfer.

I hired a engineer, not manager, from both the UK and Australia, to the US in this type of example but we had a very specialized skill set need on our team at the time.
