Hi everyone! I'm about to start my Master's in CS (part-time) and I received the following offers. I'm looking to maximize learning and growth opportunities more than TC (at this stage).

Offer 1: Full-stack Developer at Morgan Stanley (Shareworks)
TC: 90k (CAD)
Location: Montreal

Offer 2: Backend Developer Intern at Shopify
TC: 83k (CAD)
Location: Remote

I've heard some negative comments about Shareworks, so I'm not sure if it's a good idea to join. I don't love the fact that the Shopify offer is for an internship, but it looks like most interns get permanent positions afterwards.

      finance mba always telling build A,B, C. no eye for good engineering. mba and engineers not mix great. engineering culture much better, no scrum nonsense, you talk with customer directly and figure out with team what want to build and how and when.

      also, tech paying much better, bigger scale and more impact. when listening tech talk, you listen how barclays/nomura or morgan stanley solving scale problem and work efficient? or you listen to faang? what last time you used open source library/product from bank? they only buying mongo for tiny scale and can’t grow big cause wrong tool and cannot build better in house.

      sorry, i worked for bank. looking back, what a waste of life and career. have more fun, get better pay, more scale less pressure from silly manager who can’t write for-loop. yak.

      Shopify is fully remote now. Offices are permanently closed

    • Wow I thought they'd eventually reopen some offices for people. All of the fully remote companies I've seen are still maintaining smaller office spaces for employees now that things are improving
