It's as if you're forgetting that we have Trump in office ;P
Description because you're a masochist:
Texas has some of the most lenient gun laws of any state in the union. Not going to get into politics, but the origin is that Texas was quite literally a wild society and having any gun was a necessity for a way of life from defending against native attacks to curtailing the wildlife/criminals from stealing/eating your cattle. Later came the Texas revolution which also required people to own guns. Hunting is also a huge part of life of rural Texas.
Having a gun in Texas is a factor of Texas history and culture, therefore over time the laws reflected this cultural attitude.
You can't own an automatic without special permit (which basically no Joe shmoe can get) and conceal carry also requires a permit, but outside of that Texas gun laws are pretty lax. If you're interested in more details DM me or Google to your hearts content.
