Do I need a side hustle, or will tech TC take me far enough?

As always, blind tax
140TC 0 YOE
Question as above. My life aspirations include:
~1.5-2m house in Southern California (LA, OC)
~$150k sportscar
Enough money to travel (dont mind economy), support my parents (pay when we travel together, and some side cash for them to spend and enjoy, would increase as my TC increases)

Aside from wanting an expensive nice house and expensive car, everything else is pretty bland and basic. Don't spend frivolously on clothes, partying, etc....

And planning to achieve this by 30s to early 40s. Just curious as to whether tech compensation can take me there, or I have to start some sort of side hustle in order to reach these goals. Would also be dilligently saving my income (max 401k, HSA, start kids education fund, backdoor ira, ESPP, etc...)

I always see that tons of ppl on Blind have insane TCs but seem to be scrapping. Am I missing something? My only guess is that only recently has TC ballooned to the values its at now, and its not like most of Blind has been working with such high TC forever. Whereas for me, I have the benefit of starting out as a new grad already clearing mid six figures. So I just want to know if my spending habits are too big for the TC I will have in tech, or if it is a requirement I come up with another source of income.

Not bragging but simply stating the facts. 140k would be like base for some companies in the bay

Your best side hustle is to full speed on LC and jump around in next five years to lift your TC to 400K range

Every month, take a chunk of your pay cheque and put it in index funds. It will make a huge difference 20, 30 years later...

aww man. well at least you can say you can afford it! maybe you should sign up for the porsche driving experience and that'll change your mind! (although, i think no longer being attracted to $150k+ cars is a plus)

Yes, all the ones you list are great as well as what other folks suggested above. One other suggestion would be to buy a 3bd townhouse or sfh as early as possible. Stay in one bedroom and rent the other two (maybe to your trusted single colleagues). This ensures you will never pay rent and your tenants would take care of the mortgage. Even if you move, you can hire a property manager and get passive rental income. The key is to diversify! Good luck.

As someday else said, your side hustle should be Leetcode. Treat your first job as a learning opportunity to suck up as much industry experience as you can within the first year. But continue leetcoding so that 2 years later you can make 250k+ and then in 2 more years 400k
