No way to negotiate base for Amazon is it?
Two things to consider.
Money and Growth.
Money:
Those RSUs are vested over 4 years I'm assuming, so Amazon is essentially:
First year:
15.5 + 9.5(JB) + 5% RSU = ~27L
Second year:
15.5 + 10% RSU = ~ 19L
Vs Startup:
First year:
20 + 2 = 22L ( not considering PB )
Second year:
20L ( not considering PB )
Growth:
With Amazon, depending on your team and colleagues, the type of work you pickup is generally defined.
Most software engineers aren't expected to make significant contributions until 3-5 months after they join the company.
But, in the case of startups this is sorta different cause if they are early stage you'll be involved from development to marketing, etc all aspects of the product. Which while giving you a ton of exposure and overall growth in thinking and development, comes at the cost of time. You might work longer than the expected 40hrs/week.
Bonus:
If you want FAANG recruiters to connect with you for new job opportunities then being from Amazon would be helpful
