Hello Blind.

I receive an offer as a SDE I during December last month. Due to holiday period and everything, things have been dragged till now.

I was initially interviewing for the Amazon Alexa role. However, due to me not having a degree, it’s impossible for me to relocate to the USA/Canada at this point of time.

Hence, now I’m being offered a role in the AWS team in Australia instead. I have just finished the team matching process last week.

I just spoke to the Australia’s team recruiter and was told that I’ll be sponsored with the 482 visa.

From the requirements stated on the official government website. It seems like I have met all the criteria. Specifically having at least 2 years of relevant working experience. (I have 3). The recruiter seems to be unfamiliar with the requirements and said “something about 5 years or a degree. After some research, it seems to be related to having studied in English for 5 years. (Which I have met, since I’m a Singaporean)

Either way, I’m hoping any of you who are experience in this could provide some insight or advice on what I can do.

I’m most worried if there’s a requirement for a Bachelor’s degree, I’m currently still working on my degree full time, and have another 1.5 years to go before graduating. I have been working and studying this way since the start, so don’t worry about the school part. This is an opportunity for me to step up my career.

I appreciate you guys taking the time to read this!

Finish your degree - it’s highly likely you’ll regret it if your don’t.

If your Visa goes through, can you wrap up your degree in Australia so that it's a non issue in the future?

I'm not familiar with this Visa, but if you meet all the requirements, what are you worried about?

At least from what I’ve read, I have met the requirements. But the recruiter seemed to be pretty clueless about it, and that is causing me certain worry. Worked way too hard for it to get fucked over visa.

Haha, I Guess I lucked out by joining a university that has this structure. It’s actually following the London structure.

Normal university such as NUS/NTU has mid terms, etc.
