Got an staff 1 offer from confluent, recruiter said both staff 1 and staff 2 are L5 at Confluent, the level starts at L2 so one level off if compare with GF.
I have concerns on the leveling, usually the startup level can be very inflated, e.g. Instacart' senior 1 usually is for people with 3 yoe, which is just Google's L4 at most. Google's internal L5 is also inflated, L5 is no longer needed to be a TL. We dont even ask sys design for non-L5 candidates.
Any insider can share what is the "staff" level mean in Confluent?
Current L5
TC 550K
Confluent offer to be shared if my question got answered.
Update 1: initial offer, 230K base + 800K RSU, plan to use competing offer to raise RSU.
