Google doesn’t have NEGATIVE racism. The person in article is black woman. L6 in Google, graduated in 2017. Maybe she is trying to say POSITIVE racism.

If you look at her Linkedin, she had 7 years of experience at Apple before starting the phd. So saying she was a new grad in 2017 is not accurate.

if you look at her LinkedIn more carefully. Her seven year full time as Apple engineer starting from first year in college. This is very suspicious.

This person is a famous attention grabbing SJW. Have seen her going after some great researchers (Turing Award winners) because they disagreed with her on her racism theories. Let her enjoy her two minutes of fame.

    • I’ve read the emails. I don’t think you know what blackmailing means.

Your assertion that there are real people who actually suffer prejudices seems to imply that she is not a real person and doesn’t suffer from those same prejudices, or that we shouldn’t care even if she did. You are intellectually dishonest in how you apply your empathy. She’s a black woman in tech - she has had to fight every step of the way to get to where she is and you know damn well that she suffers prejudices. At best, this statement is ignorant.

When people dare speak out about how they’re being treated, they’re “playing the victim game”. YOU give me a break. You don’t get to dictate who has the privilege of speaking out. Go back and read the emails to the ERG. Read the stats. They hired her to help fix these issues, then pushed her out because they didn’t want to do the work that required.

No idea what the context is, but Jeff Dean is one of the nicest humans I’ve met. Never worked with her team but I’ve worked with other ethics teams and they’re legit/taken seriously and constructively. Thus I am incredibly skeptical of any retaliatory firing and the BigCorp narrative that Tech Journalist and this inevitable Twitter Mob will promote. Preemptively rolling my eyes at some dumb Tech Crunch headline tomorrow.

She gave an ultimatum with two conditions or she said she would resign. They accepted the offer of resignation. No word on what the terms of the ultimatum were.

I once jokingly floated a rule to an old boss about how it would be a good idea to never hire anyone with a blue check on twitter, and as the years have gone on I think I was probably right.
