Questions for Blind
1. Is it worth to stay in Amazon after considering the below factors?
2. How safe / stable is Walmart staff automation engineer position?
3. Is there a potential growth for QE at Walmart?
4. Incase Walmart is a better choice, how much more room is there to negotiate?
5. Incase amazon is a better choice, I would like to become a SDM 3-4 years. I know it’s a long road but willing to work hard. From l6 SDET can I directly setup a path for L6SDM down the road?
Factors to be considered.
1. My L6 SDET promo is due for Q3 and in process of starting the tech assessment. Pretty confident on the promo as I have been developing tools for last 2 years and performance review was evaluated as a L6 SDET- Meets-forte review (atleast that’s what the manager told me during forte discussion)
I saw other blind thread that l6 sde for Bay Area starts at 384k tc. Considering this, is it fair enough assumption that I ll reach 350k tc ?or would I end up with 270k tc through a regular 10% base increase for promo
2. I am on h1b and single earner for the family. I saw some Walmart layoff posts in 2020 and recession (soon) related posts on blind. Though I am a positive thinker, It’s extremely difficult for a h1b guy to find a job in 60 days after layoffs. How safe is Walmart staff QE(automation) role? I see amazon a better place during crisis (because I am lucky to have the best manager at amazon) as mass layoffs would be a rarity considering their diversified revenue streams and regular pips.
3. After speaking to the senior manager at Walmart, as a QE I may have to perform manual testing (Wch I hate) in line with automation as new feature releases are planned.
