This is more of a ignorant rant.

How is there a huge wage gap for the exact same role b/w USA and India?

Thanks to abroad working Indians and their dollars, I cannot even own a decent enough house in my city?

How can one who is working in India can peacefully live when abroad working are buying all the properties with ease?

As someone who moved from India to USA, I can tell u that ‘grass always seems greener on the other side’ couldn’t be more true. Sure ppl in US make more money, but it comes at the cost of being away from family, leading a lonely life if you don’t have relatives/family there. In the beginning it seems ok, but during unfortunate times like COVID ppl have been crying and cribbing for not being able to see their loved ones in India. Ppl haven’t visited their families in over 2 yrs or more.
Sure buying a house might be easier there, but remember reel life is not equal to real life. Surely you can get to a decent position here in India as well.

Indeed 'Grass is always greener on the other side'. As someone who worked both in India and US there are things we don't consider when we compare US salary to Indian salary. Money is definitely better in the states but it comes at the cost of family, friends, loneliness, comforts like maid, cook we don't even value here. People struggle to find a decent life partner and end up in depression. Freedom is another key thing to consider. Many Indians are afraid to talk back/argue with americans or the police as they might be shot. Also we Indians are habituated to Jugaad. Even if a thing is not allowed/banned we end up paying some money and getting things done. This is definitely not the case here. If you are caught doing shit you are screwed and have no means to help despite your bank balance. I am not saying everything is bad in US but it is definitely not as rosy as it seems from India.

If you have your head straight, if you know you are an Indian by birth, if you know where your "home" is then you will be fine.

I am from a small town in Maharashtra and working in Bangalore/Hyderabad for me is no different than Seattle/Bay Area (I am sure most Indians are not born and raised in Bangalore/Hyderabad).

If I was in Bangalore/hyderabad I would have went back home to visit Parents maybe 6/8 times in a year. Instead of that I do it 2 times a year for 1 Month each and it doesn't hurt that much. Parents can visit us for one month each as well twice a year.

My parents are in good shape and in their early 60s. And not in any position to die soon.

As for relatives/cousins: they are beyond obnoxious. They just stack rank all the cousins and determine everyone's worth by their salary, job status, and the hotness of their partner.

As far dating in the US is concerned, it's hard but as long as you are tall and decent physique guy you should find at least someone. Although it's true that most guys do.import women from India through arrange marriage but that's because we want a homely girl who isn't arrogant (indian girls lose their mind after coming to the US).

And as for me my fortunes have shot up since I came to the US. 3.5 years back I was rotting at WITCH for 5 LPA. I even failed to crack 10 LPA jobs.

But after graduation I got into Amazon 🤡 so did every indian who graduated with a master's degree in the US 😂😂

Recently cracked Uber Salesforce Oracle Microsoft and a few startups.

Already saved 120k after 1.5 years of working and getting rid of my education loan 😎😎😎

Slated to hit 1.5-2 million in the next decade. Will return back with that amount and work for FAANG equivalent companies in India as a manager(by Taking internal transfer and retaining US based rsu grant).

As a manager in India I will chill and won't do shit until I am asked to resign because I am too old and dead weight to the org/company 🤡🤡🤡

The key is to know that you are an Indian. Identify yourself as an Indian rather than trying to fit into the US culture. And you will be fine

OP- I was at 17 lacs at 3 YOE at India. Decided to stay back in India as I wanted to be close to parents and family. 12 years later, net worth is approx 10 cr ( all in India). I have spent this time with parents, my kid has grown up with both sets of grandparents, and uncles and aunts. I have been there for them every time they needed to visit a doctor. What kids get from grandparents and vice versa cannot be measured with money. As you grow older, you will earn enough in India to be able to afford anything you want, but at the same time, your priorities will change too. Move abroad if you want diverse exposure, but not for money alone.

Yes, the only reason I decided to stay in India is to take care of my parents. But it is very difficult to digest how easy it is for someone abroad to buy things here in India. You are a good man. Can I DM sometime so that I can learn from you ?

  • It's very difficult to settle in another country. Things look good only in social media. Raising children is very challenging. They will not even know any of your own relatives. Whatever salary you earn, with taxes, you ultimately won't return back and lead a middle class life like you do in India. With the TC you are now, you will definitely earn decent in future too, buy house and stay close with family.
You will see your parents getting aged and realise how great your decision to stay in India is.
I personally saw my cousin's, who couldn't attend their own parents final rites during COVID waves.
It's just rat race.. NRIs buy in India thinking they will settle there later, but when children grow up, impossible to return and unable to maintain, they sell properties. Be happy. Health and family is more important than anything, wherever you stay in world.
