I recently interviewed with Amazon for an SDE role (Alexa) and did only ok during the virtual onsite. I received feedback that I did well with leadership principles and on the behavioral portions, but didn't do quite as well with the coding exercises. Apparently, it was recommended by them that I would be a good fit for a SysDE role and now I have a phone technical scheduled for this role. I am being told that if I do well with this single interview that there wouldn't be another round of onsites and that I'd move forward with speaking to a manager and choose team, etc.

I have a few questions about this role as I hadn't heard about it before.

1) What should I expect during this single interview? The person conducting it is a Technical Program Manager. Will it be mostly Q&A so I should brush up on networking/sys admin/OS stuff or will there likely be some whiteboarding involved? The confirmation for the interview does mention a live coding exercise but the recruiter didn't seem to really expect it to be overly technical due to the interviewer.

2) After reading up a bit about this on Blind it seems this is somewhat equivalent to an SRE position. How difficult is it to move around internally at Amazon and how hard would it be to go from a SysDE to a SDE like I had originally applied for? Also, how hard is it to move from office to office? (e.g. going from SysDE from one office to SDE at another)

EDIT:
3) Do these roles have similar pay bands? Recruiter told me they are paid very similar and I saw a post on here claiming they were about <5% less but this was about 2 years old or so.

TC: 84k
YOE: just under 2
