Microsoft consulting services(MCS) to Microsoft India development center (IDC) internal transfer

Jun 30, 2021 14 Comments

Started working as Consultant at MCS india. They have delivery oriented projects here, plus compensation is not as competitive as IDC.

Want to move IDC. What approach should I take ?

Please share your experience if you have done this kind of internal transfer in MS.

Currently at level 58 (they have diff level in MCS as compared to IDC)

  • You should atleast wait for one year to switch IDC if you joined recently. Internal transfers are easy if you are from development background and have good knowledge on DS and Algo. Last but not least, you will get Level 60 in IDC which will be equivalent to fresher.

You should try to look into other companies as moving internally to IDC would be a bad choice. You would not be getting equivalent level as you have in GD. Even the compensation hardly changes with internal movement.d

    • I think I should have done that, I am planing for canada immigration and thought it will be easy with Microsoft with internal transfer to canada but I got to know you can't apply for internal transfer if you are below 62😪 and I am on 58. Fuck I feel pathetic now I should have done my homework. So now think I will get into IDC Probably on 62 level and apply. I know its a long shot but it is what I have for now.
