Give up 1 shot at H1B lottery?

Just got an APM offer from a very cool ad-tech company.

Here's the catch: They'll only sponsor my H-1B visa once (I have two shots left on STEM OPT).

I have two options:
1. Take it
2. Drop it and keep grinding, hoping I land something else

I currently work in digital consulting - my current place of work will sponsor me every year but I want to get into tech. I'm worried that the longer I take, the more difficult it will be to find a job as I am running out of authorized time to work. Would love any thoughts on the above.

  • Third option, negotiate with them on the sponsoring. Why will they sponsor only once? You can probably take a small base cut to indirectly pay for H1 cost.

Any company that is not flexible on this front is short sighted. Why lose an employee that they think is good enough to do the job and grow, to save a few thousand bucks. Clearly a red flag in my eyes!

Ya.. wtf. Esp when they're paying 150K+ to employ you and you're worthless for the first 2 months. Why would you swap at seasoned person for another n00b? You'll lose more than that

    If you had
    One shot
    Or one opportunity
To seize everything you ever wanted
    In one moment
    Would you capture it
    Or just let it slip?

Companies like this don't value their employees. Not even at an Amazon level. So keep hunting 100%

They are literally saying "we don't care if you continue to work for us or not, we'll just find someone else" with this policy
