SWE/SETI at Google without CS degree- how common?

Going for a SETI on-site next month (no, not search for extraterrestrials) and don’t have a CS degree. I think this has kept me from getting interviews with a lot of other companies requiring CS in the job listing.
I always hear about how Google hires from all backgrounds, but curious to hear from current Googlers how common this actually is. I feel like I’m pretty good at problem solving and am trying to just solidify my CS fundamentals before the interview, is that enough? Thanks.

Having said that, once you are in the interview process it’s you and not your diploma who will get you the job.
Try to prepare yourself as much as you can, leetcode, look for mock interviews, be confident but humble and make a list of potential questions (definitely prepare yourself to answer “you have no diploma, why should we choose you and not someone with a degree?” type of questions)
Best of luck!! 🤞
IME in general not having a degree has usually gotten me filtered out at resume phase, once past that no issues.
