I live in Canada on PR. I want to move to USA for better pay and opportunities. I will be eligible to apply for Canada citizenship in couple years. Wondering if it’s worth waiting 2 years for Canada citizenship. Does it make any difference once I move? I am a manager and will try to move on L1A to apply for EB1C GC. By delaying my move, I get Canadian passport at the expense of lost income and delayed GC.
Get your citizenship and then move on L1A so that you can move to TN if situation demands.
EB1C wait is atleast 3 years and it's increasing every year
Beat secure the citizenship. You can always easily come to usa on tn visa .citizenship is important. Passport is important.
OP, you don’t have to be in the US to file the EB-1C or any other GC for that matter. As long as your current role outside the US is managerial (and you’ve been in the role more than 1 year) and your future role is in the US is also managerial your company can start that process now if they’re willing so you don’t lose time against that process while waiting in Canada.
Born and raised in Canada immigrated on a L1A, GC took four months. But that was back in 2010.
For US what matters is your country of birth. If you weee born in India good luck and goto back of that infinite queue
There is a back door. If you get Canadian Citizenship and any type of management position there is an L1A visa for transferring as a manager between two countries but the same company. It lets you apply for a green card with a 1yr wait instead of 40.
The L-1A (and subsequent EB-1C green card filing) has nothing to do with having Canadian citizenship and this isn’t some sort of secret back door either. You’re still held to the priority dates from the visa bulletin for your country of birth, and USCIS is currently processing EB-1 petitions with a priority date of March 21. That wait to even file is currently longer than a year and the green card process itself may take 1.5 to 2 years start to GC in hand using current processing time.
